Adoptee searching for a birth parent?....
In terms of assignments, the personal favorite of mine is undoubtedly the search for birth parents on behalf of adult adoptees.
Aside from "the thrill of the hunt" is the sheer joy I have experienced in reuniting several dozen of these long lost relatives. These cases are usually difficult (though not always) but sometimes, to be perfectly honest, just impossible.
While there is a prevalent distrust of private investigators among the adoptive "triad" community, I strive to alleviate some of that prejudice.
However, there are unfortunately many in our profession who have taken advantage of these "persons-in-need", quoting outrageously high fees and never producing results. We believe in screening perspective search-clients first to make sure that there is enough information to make the search possible and also to ascertain that the client is in a stable frame of mind to handle the possible ups & downs of these searches and possible reunions. When we do get involved, we base our fees on a one-step-at-a-time approach, to make sure there is consistent progress made, instead of asking for a large payment initially.
I would like to think that I have developed a certain level of sensitivity towards the persons involved in these emotionally complicated situations, and hope that you will trust me to offer sincere and professional assistance.
