CRIMINAL DEFENSE
We have worked on over 600 criminal cases for attorneys in New Jersey involving Municipal, Superior, and US District Court matters.
We carefully follow investigative procedure and have been called to testify on numerous occasions.
Conference: Meeting with the attorney and client at the outset to make sure we have the same specific strategies and goals in mind.
Discovery Review: Reviewing all materials twice; the first time just to get a thorough take on the case and the existing evidence; the second time taking down notes and questions/thoughts on areas we can explore.
Secondary Conference: Communicating to the attorney any possible questions or opinions on new avenues of investigation or strategy.
Scene Examination & Diagram: Physically visiting the scene, whether a house, street, bar, or other location. Was there sufficient lighting for witness observations? Is there a possibility to canvass the area for potential new witnesses? Were there possibly video cameras in operation in the area? Diagramming the scene for our use as well as using as a tool while talking to witnesses.
Locating Witnesses: Often the most challenging area, and one sometimes not done as thoroughly by the prosecution... in many cases the witnesses are not gainfully employed property owners and can be difficult to find and keep track of. Use of top databases as well as hundreds of local "contacts" developed over the years (and simple legwork) helps us to find them and maintain a connection with them if needed over the course of long cases.
Witness Interviews: Interviewing witnesses in the best possible progression, building on our most desired facts to establish, keeping in touch with counsel for decisions as to whether to take formal statements, what to cover, and in what form... taped, signed, or just summaries.
Reports: Presenting our case to the prosecution in the most strategic manner desired. This is the final key.
